A lifelong habit of writing in Bengali, especially while traveling, led him to keep detailed diaries in his mother tongue from a young age. His contributions to Bengali literature include several works published in Sandesh, the famous magazine edited by Satyajit Ray, Leela Majumdar, and Nalini Das. He has also written numerous essays and poems for smaller literary magazines.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePanthajan pursued a career in medicine, earning his degrees in surgery from AFMC, Pune. After serving for twenty-three years in the Indian Army Medical Corps, he retired and returned to Jamshedpur to practice medicine.
