Subodh Sarkar has received several prestigious awards, including the Sahitya Akademi Award (2013), the Binodashakti Chattopadhyay Award, and the Bangla Akademi Award. For his poetry, he has also been honored with the Gangadhar Meher National Award from Sambalpur University, and received honorary D.Litt degrees from Gourbanga University and Vidyasagar University. In 2016, he was a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Iowa in the United States, where he also participated in an international writer's workshop with poets and writers from 33 countries. He lives in Seriti, Kolkata, with his son Roro.
