BESTSELLER by Ahmed Faiyaz [Paperback]

This is a witty contemporary novel set in the chaotic world of publishing, following Akshay Saxena, an unemployed editor whose literary magazine in the UK has shut down. He is sent to India to help revive the fortunes of the struggling Kalim publishing house.

Akshay's new employer gives him an almost impossible challenge: produce at least five bestsellers within a year, or the publishing business will be closed. He must therefore find commercial potential in books and writers that he personally considers unworthy of publication, while dealing with a colourful group of washed-up employees, eccentric colleagues and aspiring writers.

Amid professional pressures, office politics and the absurdities of the publishing industry, Akshay also finds himself becoming emotionally involved with Zorah Kalim, the impulsive daughter of his former boss. The novel combines humour and workplace drama with a romantic subplot as Akshay struggles to save the publishing house while figuring out his own career and love life.
