He Who Fights With Monsters: Outworlder by Shirtaloon Mj & Travis Deverell [Paperback]

He Who Fights with Monsters: Outworlder by Shirtaloon is the first book in a popular LitRPG / progression-fantasy series, combining portal fantasy, magic, monsters, humour, and action.

Jason, an ordinary retail assistant manager, suddenly wakes up naked and confused in a completely different dimension filled with magic and monsters. Unlike a conventional “chosen one,” Jason wasn't summoned by prophecy—he was brought there accidentally by a wizard who immediately regrets the mistake.

Jason soon discovers that he has powerful supernatural abilities, but there's a troubling catch: his powers have an ominous, potentially evil nature. As he learns to use them, he must fight monsters, cultists, cannibals, and other threats while trying to understand this strange world.

Survival also requires navigating the human power structures of the new world. Jason becomes involved with politicians, noble houses, crime lords, and powerful supernatural beings, gradually building friendships and learning how to control his abilities without becoming the very monster he fears.

The novel combines snarky humour and action with extensive world-building, magical progression, political intrigue, and game-like power development.
