HISTORY OF THE SIKHS by Joseph Davey Cunningham [Paperback]

The book is a comprehensive historical account of the origins and development of the Sikh community, tracing the rise of Sikhism and the political history of Punjab through the nineteenth century. Cunningham examines the evolution of the Sikh nation, its religious and political institutions, relations with neighbouring communities and states, and the emergence of Sikh power. The narrative ultimately covers the Anglo-Sikh conflicts and the battles of the Sutlej, placing Sikh history within the wider geopolitical context of nineteenth-century India.
