Patachitra of Odisha by Anita Bose [Hardcover]

Patachitra of Odisha explores the traditional Patachitra painting tradition of Odisha, particularly its deep connection with Jagannath culture and the rituals of the Jagannath Temple in Puri. The book traces the art form from its origins to its contemporary relevance and gives particular attention to Raghurajpur, the famous Odisha village known for its Patachitra artists.

The book also looks at the artists and the cultural traditions behind the paintings, making it not merely a book about painting techniques but a study of folk art, religious culture, heritage and artistic practice. Anita Bose has researched the Patachitra tradition and the lives of Raghurajpur artisans extensively.
