SINGHA DURBAR by Sagar S.J.B. Rana [Paperback]

Sangha Durbar: Rise and Fall of the Rana Regime of Nepal examines the rise, rule, and eventual collapse of the Rana regime, which effectively governed Nepal for more than a century while the monarchy remained largely ceremonial. Written by a descendant of the Rana family, the book offers an insider’s perspective on this important period of Nepalese history, addressing historical misconceptions while also providing a candid critique of the regime’s achievements and failures. It explores the Ranas’ role in maintaining political stability alongside accusations of tyranny, economic and religious excesses, and traces the decline of their rule until its end in 1951.
