উল্লাস মল্লিকের জন্ম ১৯৭১ হাওড়া জেলায়, গাছগাছালি দিঘি ঘেরা এক শান্ত গ্রামে।বাবা সমরসিংহ মল্লিক, মা গীতা মল্লিক। একটু বড় হয়ে সপরিবারে চলে আসেন হাওড়া জেলারই আর এক চমত্কার গ্রাম কেশবপুরে।বাবা ছিলেন সেখানকার বিশিষ্ট শিক্ষক। স্নাতক হবার পর শিক্ষকতা দিয়ে কর্মজীবন শুরু।চাকরি ছেড়েছেন; পেশা বদলেছেন।দুষ্টুমির বাল্যকৈশোর, অনিশ্চিত কর্মজীবন, চেনা-অচেনা, ভাল-মন্দ বাছবিচার না করেই মানুষের সঙ্গে মেলামেশা, অদ্ভুত সব ঘটনা আর স্নিগ্ধ প্রকৃতি তাঁর লেখা জুড়ে।মনে আনন্দ আর রসবোধ নিয়েই বেঁচে থাকতে চান। ২০০০ সালে লেখালিখির শুরু।বিভিন্ন বছরে ‘দেশ’ হাসির গল্প প্রতিযোগিতায় বিজয়ী।একডজন উপন্যাস, দেড়শোর বেশি গল্প আর রম্যরচনা লিখেছেন।
